Designer Spotlight: Amanda Uprichard

I love department stores. It's like a giant one-stop-shop for everything--clothes, shoes, bags, makeup, jewelry, pretty much anything a girl could ask for. Unless you're a plus size girl. Department stores fail to cater to plus size ladies who like to shop in-stores. Some, hoever, make up for it by carrying amazing plus size clothing on the internet. Like... Saks carrying Amanda Uprichard!! (The ONLY complaint I have is that she doesn't have enough selection for plus sizers!)

Amanda Uprichard is by far one of my favorite designers of the moment. Her outfits are fun, flirty, girly, and all-around chic.

Here are some of my favorite pieces from her, currently available at Saks:

Two-tone Silk Dress: $295

I looooove this dress. I also included this dress in the Navy & Gray post from a couple weeks back!

It's so fun and flirty with all its ruffles! It's also fabulously perfect for day-to-night situations. I want this dress!!!

I love the sporty-chic look of this dress! The exposed zipper does it for me! I love the color too--rich and bright at the same time!

Hehe! This top just makes me happy! I think it's an adorable play on menswear while still staying feminine and glitzy!

If the first dress was just too ruffle-y for you, this is a fantasticccccc more subtle option! a toned down neckline leads to a super cute lace overlaid skirt! Perfect for that dinner party I couldn't think of anything to wear to! (Too bad this is about 2 weeks too late!)

What do you guys think? Are you as into her designs as I am?

Freshening up my haircut!

Not so long ago, I posted about taking the leap from long to short hair--I loved it, then a week later, I HATED IT. My stylist had cut my hair way too blunt, and my hair ended up looking so heavy and drab unless I spent 45 minutes in the morning styling! I simply love my sleep way too much to dedicate that kind of time in the morning..

Sooooooo today, I went BACK to the same salon, got my hair cut by another stylist (such blasphemy!), and absolutely LOVE IT.

Here I am!

Now you guys might not be able to tell from the photo, but there is SUCH a huge difference in my hair now! It doesn't feel like my head is being weighed down by the ends of my hair. Amazing! I'll definitely be sticking arounf with Tony, the new stylist! Loooooove him!

ASOS CURVE LAUNCH!

I'm SO EXCITED!!! Asos has FINALLY launched its plus size line, ASOS Curve! :D

I've been keeping track of the previews sent to other bloggers and couldn't wait for certain items, like the gorgeous oversized blazer seen on Saks in the City's review. Unfortunately, the launch didn't include that item--according to the ASOS Twitter feed though, they'll be adding items over the next few weeks. For now, they have a good selection of basics, including skinny jeans, T's, and leggings. For me though, I am most interested in seeing their cute dresses! I'm not a huge fan of their 2 print dresses, but a few of the solids drew my interest.

Some of the items that most interested me were:

I Love the style of this top, and i happen to think it's one of the collections more fashion-forward items, but i worry that the sash going across the waist wouldn't be flattering. The model seems to rock it well though! I love that the black trim is continued on the huge kimono sleeve!

Gold Button Detail Dress: $47.59

I love this--I had actually thought about buying this dress from their regular line cause I loved it so much! It's comfy looking and i love the combination of blue and gold.

I love this dress! I spend all my time working these days and I feel like this would be a great piece to go from day to night! Most of ASOS Curve's dresses have high necklines, but I'm definitely a lower neckline kind of girl (not in a trashy way though, I promise!)

Tailored Pencil Pencil Dress: $47.59

I love the simplicity of this dress! It also seems to really flatter the waist. Cute! I'd love to wear this to work with a cute and classy statement necklace!

Long Leather Biker Jacket: $169.97

I love this jacket! It's all sorts of tough and edgy, but it's still flattering since it seems to keep a nice tailored shape. Can't wait to try it on in person!! :)

Overall, i will say that I'm a little disappointed in their initial selection. It seems to be all basics and not the fantastic trendy items that ASOS is so well known for. For me at least, I think it all depends on what shows up over the next few weeks!

What do you guys think of the new line?

Trend Spotlight: Navy & Gray

I've always loved navy, and I've always loved gray. (I'm definitely a dark colors person if you can't tell!) I never really warmed up to the idea of wearing them together--it seemed a little clashy/off/unflattering, but my awesome and ever so stylish sister paired up an adorable navy top with gray jeggings and sneakers and I thought she looked awesome!

I recently purchased this Gray French Terry Blazer from Torrid for $48:

I love the simplicity of this blazer! There's some cute detailing on the buttons, but what I love the most about this blazer? It's INCREDIBLY comfortable while still remaining polished and chic! I cuff the sleeves and pair it with my new striped shirt!

White and Navy Angled Stripe Top, also from Torrid $28:

As a larger girl, I typically shy away from stripes (ANY), but I love this top because it's right on trend, but still flattering since the stripes are slightly angled! As my hairstylist said, asymmetry and  angles play mind tricks, making things look less round than they really are!

My favorite look of the moment is to rock this top with my gray blazer, sleeves rolled up, dark dark dark skinny jeans, and navy blue flats. I like to think i'm channeling Coco before she was famous.

I love this dress--it has a modest but sexy neckline for those of us with larger chests, but still sexy with the short length and attention-drawing sequin detailing at the neck! I would definitely pair this with super dark navy leggings, some shiny navy bangles, and maybe even...

I love that this shape is nice and lean, and that the cuffed sleeves have some striping for added interest!

This silk blouse is so gorgeous and so comfortable looking! I would pair this baby with a super soft sweater vest, some sexy gray shorts, and hot little flat booties! Just like these....

I love the trim on the pockets! It adds just a little bit of edge to an otherwise refined short. Fabulous!

I love the idea of combining soft flowy pieces with structured pieces like the gray shorts!

This dress is BY FAR the thing I look forward to owning the most!!! I can't wait until I can order this! (aka when it's on sale, cause 300 bucks is STEEP!) I love this dress though! In fact, I love almost all of Amanda Uprichard's clothing!

What do you think? How do you guys rock your blues and grays?

Recap: Over the Top Shoes

Okay, so a few weeks ago I posted about over the top shoes and how they might translate into streetwear, so I thought I would let you all in on a little discovery I just made!

Look at these shoes! They kind of trip me out a little, but I love it! This pair is from YesStyle, and rings in at $38. Yes, indeed ladies, this oh-so-interesting pair of shoes is only $38. Mind-boggling.

Would you wear them? If so, how?!

I'm Baaaaaaaack!

Hello Loves!

I've returned from Japan! (And a few days in Taiwan for good measure!) Needless to say, the fashions there are top-notch as usual, with women rarely going outside their homes without a faceful of perfect makeup, perfect nails, and a gorgeous outfit that most definitely includes heels!

It's insane really, how much women there wear heels. It doesn't matter if they are grocery shopping, going to work, grabbing a bite to eat, or whatever, they're in a heel no less than 2.5 inches tall. Maybe it's cause they're all so skinny that there's practically no weight on their toes, but I, for one, could not do it. (I'd be limping or barefoot within the hour).

Anyhow, a REAL post is coming soon. I hope you're all enjoying the holidays and practicing a liiiiiittle restraint when it comes to shopping! I know I'm not! haha

See You In a Few!

Hello loves!

I hope you're all having an amazing Black Friday!

I'll be MIA for a while, as I'm off to Japan! :)

I can't wait to get some style inspiration from Asia! Since I'll be on a tour with no promises of internet, I'll just say toodleoo for now--be back in a few!

Yours, etc.
